The best redemption in my mind is one which takes you where you want to go on a day and time that you want to get there on an airline you prefer to fly on in the highest cabin class possible.
The best use is definitely for upgrades. If you can spring for a business fare use the points to try for an upgrade to first out of SIN. Otherwise an upgrade to business from economy. But upgrading definitely a better use of points that a straight out redemption in my book.
